LIGO Student Fellowship Program

About the LIGO Fellowship Program:

(Note: with Advanced LIGO beginning observing operations in 2015, the Fellowship Program may change or may be absorbed into the broader plans for on-site presence. This page describes the program through 2014, at least.)

The LIGO Student Fellowship Program provides two fellowships each year awarded to LIGO students with a strong interest in instrumentation science who are interested in committing to spend a year at either LIGO observatory to pursue a significant instrument project. The goal of this program is to encourage the long-term presence at an observatory needed for a student to gain experience and to successfully complete a significant instrumentation project. This Fellowship is competitive and is open to all students in LIGO enrolled at U.S. educational institutions, including those already in residence at an observatory, who wish to develop an expertise in instrument science.

Applications for the Fellowship program are normally accepted starting in March and are due in June. For example, program details and rules for the 2014-2015 fellowships may be found here.
